Description

The School on the Moor is St. Githa’s, on Dartmoor. Here Toby Barrett, the daughter of an artist in a neighbouring village, comes as a new girl the term in which the story opens. Toby (short for Tabitha) arrives every day on her pony Blackberry, and soon becomes an important member of the school. She knows her part of the moor well, and is firmly convinced that somewhere hidden in it is treasure of great historical interest. How Toby finds treasure, though not the treasure she was looking for, is interestingly told.

The School on the Moor is the first of the Toby trilogy, the others being The School in the Woods andToby of Tibbs Cross.

The introductory material includes an article by Chris Keyes on the location, and an article by Clarissa Cridland on the Ark of the Covenant (you will need to read the book to find out why!), together with a publishing history.
