Dimsie rounded the bend in the stairs and saw no-one there. The explanation was not a ghostly one at all. The unquenchable Hilary Garth, who hitches joyrides in the boots of cars and does many of the wicked things the younger Dimsie would have indulged in, has assumed a disguise to smuggle forbidden cosmetics and other such things into school. Not for herself, but to sell to the more vain members of the Upper School, and for a good cause, too. But Dimsie is Head Girl and as such feels it is her duty to intervene and put a stop to such flagrant flouting of school rules. And when she discovers Hilary cramming the fat Dolly into an incredible Instant Slimming Garment, Dimsie's amazement knows no bounds - and she leaps into action!
