Description
The first day of school is always exciting and eventful, and for Dimsie this new term at St Jane's is even more memorable. It begins with her being made a prefect - much to her own astonishment - and her first test comes during an encounter with a madcap junior called Hilary, who bites her!
Dimsie eventually discovers the truth - but not before Hilary goes missing. This final adventure leads the two girls into great danger, which only Dimsie's courage and strength of will can avert - though at great cost to herself.
Hilary's constant mischief and high spirits prove to be continuing source of trouble for Dimsie and the rest of the school. Although Dimsie quickly wins the new girl's admiration, one prank leads to another and Hilary always seems to be at the bottom of it. So, when a "ghost" starts haunting the school, everyone thinks that it is just another of Hilary's silly games.
